Shipping within the United States uses the United States Postal Service. The birds are packaged in cartons designed for shipping birds. The size of the carton depends on the number of birds traveling.
The birds will be shipped on a Monday or Tuesday OVERNIGHT EXPRESS shipping.
There should be someone available at the final location to receive the birds as even one or two days of travel can be stressful for them.
Douglas Black Diamond Lofts can ship internationally. Shipping OUTSIDE the United States requires a quarantine broker and times of shipping depend on the receiving country.
Travel can be stressful for the birds, so we recommend immediate transfer from the shipping carton to your quarantine loft with provision of water and food.
Douglas Black Diamond Lofts maintains the pigeons in the best health with up-to-date immunizations and care.
We recommends quarantine from the rest of your birds for approximately 30 days to facilitate bird acclimation and responsiveness to your loft.
Close monitoring of the birds condition is necessary to ensure proper eating and drinking as the pigeons become accustomed to your area.
As soon birds are received by USPS, you will receive tracking number and at this point it is your responsibility to follow the delivery to your loft.
Quarantine of the pigeons is necessary for close observation.
Make sure they have clear access to water and food. Allow time for the stress of the travel to ease.
If a bird does not arrive to your satisfaction, please contact us immediately.
If you purchased pigeons with the Black Diamond pedigree, all associated paper and pedigree will arrive in the carton with the bird(s) or mailed to you separately.
